A retail appliance company is being sued after allegedly committing negligence, which caused an employee to become injured.

Steven Hargraves filed a lawsuit April 14 in the Jefferson County Court against Conn's Appliances Inc., citing negligence.

The complaint states Hargraves was employed by Conn's and sustained injury during a work accident on Aug. 12. According to the suit, Hargraves was attempting to move a sofa with a dolly that was unsafe. He claims he sustained serious personal injuries to his left knee and body generally.

Conn's was negligent for failing to provide a safe work environment, failing to coordinate work so it could be performed in a safe manner and for failing to provide safe equipment, according to the complaint.

Hargraves is seeking damages in excess of jurisdictional limits.

The plaintiff is being represented in the case by Brandon P. Monk of The Monk Law Firm.
