A Louisiana resident is suing his employer after he contracted a staph infection on the job.

Eddie Duet filed a lawsuit May 7 in the Galveston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Odyssea Marine Holdings Inc., doing business as Odyssea Marine Inc., North Bank Towing Corp. and Odyssea Marine Group LLC, citing negligence.

Duet claims he was employed by the defendants as a captain of the seagoing tug, M/V Miss Goldie, on June 2, 2011. Duet claims he suffered severe injuries as a result of contracting a staph infection while aboard the vessel, which he alleges was caused by inadequate  inspections and poor maintenance and repair of the vessel.

Duet is seeking damages, interest and court costs.

He is being represented in the case by Corpus Christi attorneys R. Blake Brunkenhoefer, Greg W. Turman and Craig E. Brunkenhoefer, of Brunkenhoefer Turman PLLC.
