Beaumont apartments sued after tenant gets shocked

A Beaumont man is suing over claims he received an electrical shock after water leaked into his apartment.


David Brooks filed a lawsuit May 22 in the Jefferson County District Court against B.I.G. Assets LLC, citing premises liability.



According to the complaint, Brooks encountered water in his Towne Oaks apartment owned by the defendant on Lexington Drive in Beaumont on Nov. 19, 2012.


Brooks says he walked into his bathroom, unplugged an alarm clock and received an electrical shock. B.I.G. Assets is accused of negligence.


Brooks is seeking more than $200,000 in damages.


He is being represented in the case by attorney Trent Devenzio of Branick, Walston & Devenzio.
