A Collin County company is suing over claims a former employee locked them out of their own social media accounts.

Emerald City Management LLC and Emerald City Band Inc. filed a lawsuit June 3 in the Eastern District Court of Texas Sherman Division against Jordan Kahn and Jordan Kahn Music Co. LLC.

According to the complaint, in August 2009, Emerald City hired Kahn to head a band it was creating to deal with an overflow of wedding and event music services, and over time he rose within the company, eventually dealing with their website and social media accounts.

The complaint says Kahn resigned May 28, changed the names on the accounts to his own, locked Emerald City out of the accounts that used trademarked names and kept in his possession items such as computers, contact databases and cameras that are the property of Emerald City.

Kahn is accused of false designation of origin, service mark dilution, unfair competition, common law service mark infringement, tortious interference with contracts, tortious interference with prospective business relations, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of fiduciary duty and conspiracy.

Emerald City is seeking damages, costs of suit and a temporary restraining order.

It is being represented in the case by attorney Alan L. Busch of Busch Ruotolo & Simpson LLP.
