PERSONNEL FILE: Shelton recognized for special family court certification

Randy Shelton, Jefferson County 279th District Court judge, received recognition for his completion of the Texas College of Judicial Studies Family Jurisprudence Program at the Annual Texas Judicial Education Conference in Fort Worth.

The three-year certification program requires participants to complete 43 hours in courses in general and specialized areas of the law. Admission to the program is limited to active Texas judges who have served at least four years.

Shelton, who also holds board certification in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, received specialized training in juvenile and family law while attending the program.

He was elected judge of the 279th District Court in 2006 and hears juvenile and family law cases in Jefferson County.
