Man says he was injured while working on vessel
A Texas man is suing over claims he was injured while working with heavy equipment on a vessel.
Cody Key filed a lawsuit Oct. 17 in the Galveston County District Court against Skansi Marine, citing negligence.
According to the complaint, Key was employed by Skansi Marine working with heavy equipment on the vessel Nick L. Skansi while it was in navigable inland waters outside Texas on Aug. 6, when he sustained injuries to his back and neck.
The defendant is accused of negligence in failing to provide Key with a safe place to work, maintain the vessel and provide adequate training, operating the vessel with inadequate crew and operating an un-seaworthy vessel.
Key seeks punitive damages, maintenance, including back maintenance, at the rate of $70 a day and pay or guarantee payment of medical bills, interest and attorney fees, all totaling more than $1 million.
He is represented by attorneys Jason A. Itkin, Cory D. Itkin, Noah M. Wexler and Kelly M. Woods of Arnold and Itkin in Houston.
