A Galveston County woman alleges that a Texas City driver caused a car accident in 2013 that left her and another passenger with serious injuries.
Debbie Davidson, individually and as a personal representative and/or heir of the Estate of Edward Curtiss, deceased, filed a lawsuit July 9 in the Galveston County District Court against Doris McCollum, citing vehicular negligence.
According to the filing, Davidson and Curtis were driving westbound on Clear Lake City Boulevard on July 12, 2013 when McCollum hit their vehicle in the left back quadrant while traveling southbound on Mabry Mill.
The lawsuit states McCollum failed to keep a proper lookout, control her speed, yield the right-of-way, properly apply her brakes or take evasive action. She is also faulted with changing lanes when it wasn't safe to do so, attempting to turn right from the left lane of a two lane street and making an illegal lane change.
Davidson, individually, seeks damages in excess of $200,000 for past and future medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, physical impairment, and loss of earning capacity.
As a personal representative and/or heir of the estate of Curtiss, who died on May 30, 2015 from an unrelated illness, Davidson seeks damages in excess of $100,000 for past medical care and expenses, past physical pain and suffering, past mental anguish and past physical impairment.
