Schlitterbahn sued after water slide collision

Waterslide

A Harris County man is suing Galveston Island Water Park following a water slide accident.

Gordon Conover filed a complaint Aug. 19 in Galveston County District Court against Schlitterbahn Beach Resort Management, LLC and Galveston Island Water Park, L.P., alleging negligence.

Conover suffered injuries to his head, neck and other body parts on June 21 at Galveston Island, after a park employee gave him the "all-clear" to enter a water slide, where at some point he collided with another person going down the slide, according to the complaint.

The complaint alleges that the defendants are held responsible for their employee's failure to inform Conover of the dangerous condition on the slide.

As a result, Conover has incurred and will incur medical expenses, pain, suffering and mental anguish, as well as physical impairment and loss of earning capacity, according to the complaint.

Conover seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, including attorney fees.

He is represented by Steve Stratso, John A. Daspit, and Robert Morse of the Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
