Worker sues Geo-Lab, alleging unpaid overtime

Overtime

A Nueces County man is suing a mud logging services company, alleging unpaid overtime wages.

Alvin Street, individually and for all others similarly situated, filed a collective action lawsuit Sept. 25 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Geo-Lab Inc. of Hockley, alleging unpaid overtime in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

The complaint states while Street and others in the class were employed by Geo-Lab as day rate workers, they received a fixed day rate regardless of hours worked. The suit says these workers regularly worked in excess of 80 hours per week but were not paid time-and-a-half for time worked more than 40 hours per week.

Street and others in the class seek to recover unpaid overtime wages, liquidated damages, attorney fees and court costs. He is represented by attorneys Clif Alexander and Austin W. Anderson of Phipps Anderson Deacon in Corpus Christi.

Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas case number 4:15-cv-02812.
