SMC Consulting sues Galveston architect, alleging unpaid funds

Contract

A Texas consulting firm is suing a Galveston architect and his firm, alleging an unpaid invoice.

SMC Consulting filed a lawsuit Oct. 14 in Galveston County District Court against Michael Gaertner, individually, and doing business as Michael Gaertner Architects in Galveston, alleging breach of contract.

The complaint states Gaertner retained SMC to perform professional environmental engineering services, agreeing to pay for such services. The suit says SMC performed the requested services and invoiced Gaertner, but Gaertner has failed to pay the invoice. The defendant also ignored a letter sent by the plaintiff Aug. 4 that demanded payment, the suit states.

SMC seeks monetary relief between $100,000 and $200,000, including damages, penalties, court costs, expenses, interests and attorney fees. It is represented by attorneys Gregory P. Crinion and Kourtney E. Schroeder of Crinion Davis & Richardson in Houston.

Galveston County District Court case number 15-cv-1104.
