Montgomery County worker alleges Directional Drilling did not pay overtime wages

Overtime

A Montgomery County worker is suing a Houston oilfield drilling services company, alleging unpaid overtime.

Taylor Mann filed a lawsuit Oct. 13 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Q Directional Drilling, doing business as The Directional Drilling Company, alleging unpaid overtime wages in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

The complaint alleges that while Mann was employed by the defendant as an MWD worker, from 2012 to 2014, he worked an average of 84 hours per week, for which he was paid a salary plus a day rate, a lump sum payment included in his regular rate of pay.

The suit says the defendant mis-classified the plaintiff as exempt from overtime, but the complaint alleges he should not have been exempt from overtime pay.

Mann seeks to recover unpaid back wages, liquidated damages and interest, plus attorney fees, costs and expenses. He is represented by Don J. Foty of Kennedy Hodges in Houston.

Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas case number 4:15-cv-02995.
