A worker's s surviving wife and daughter are suing his former employers, alleging wrongful death.

Kathy Lutz and Jane Ann Jones, individually and as independent executrix of the estate of deceased Robert Morris Jones Sr., filed a lawsuit July 17 in Jefferson County District Court against Velsicol Chemical Corporation, BASF, Bayer Cropscience Holdings, Bayer Cropscience, Chevron USA, Dow Chemical Company, E.I. Du Pont De Nemours and Company, Monsanto Company, Solvay America, Solvay USA, Sandoz Argo, and Texaco, alleging wrongful death, negligence and gross negligence.

Robert Morris Jones, who died Aug. 18, 2013, worked for the defendants on defendants-owned premises from 1965 to 2005. The complaint says during this time, he was exposed to dangerous levels of toxic and carcinogenic chemicals and substances, including Banvel, Dicamba, butadiene and benzene, among others, which lead to him developing non-Hodgkins lymphoma and other injuries that caused his death.

The complaint alleges the defendants were negligent or grossly negligent in failing to failing to provide a safe place to work, failing to monitor chemical and toxic substance levels in the workplace, failing to medically monitor the decedent, creating dangerous conditions, failing to protect from the hazards associated with exposure to these toxic chemicals and substances, and other negligent acts or omissions.

Lutz and Jones seek actual, special, exemplary, and punitive damages less than $10 million, interests and court costs. They are represented by attorney J. Robert Black and Leah R. Fowler of Black Law in Houston.
