Wife, daughter blame doctors, health care practice for wrongful death

Hospital

BEAUMONT —  A wife and daughter are suing several doctors and a Beaumont health care practice, alleging their husband and father was subjected to wrongful death.

Antoinette Gentry and Michele Gentry Pearson filed a lawsuit on Dec. 30 in Jefferson County District Court against Dr. Jerome Francis Schrapps, Dr. Jerome F. Schrapps, PLLC, Dr. Audry Nguyen and Southeast Texas Pulmonary Associates LLP in Beaumont, alleging wrongful death.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 13, 2013, Gordon Gentry, was admitted to Christus Hospital in Beaumont where he was a surgery patient of Schrapps. Following his release from the hospital, the suit says, Gentry's post-operative symptoms were irregular, and Schrapps and Nguyen should have been attuned to the fact that Gentry was suffering from internal bleeding. Gentry died Dec. 18, 2013.

The suit says the defendants breached their standard of care, and alleges their negligence led to the wrongful death of Gordon Gentry.

Antoinette Gentry and Michelle Gentry Pearson seek $250,000 in damages, plus legal fees. They are represented by attorneys Craig Lewis and Heather E. Hall of The Lewis Law Firm in Houston.
