HOUSTON – Houston attorney Rick Burleson, an oil and gas specialist, has joined Paul Hastings LLP.

The Jan. 26 announcement comes nearly one month after Burleson shutdown his firm.

According to a press release, Burleson is excited to join an elite team of lawyers at Paul Hastings who can help his clients "seize opportunities and navigate challenges at this critical point in the energy market cycle."

Greg Nelson, chair of PH’s Houston office, issued the following statement: "Rick (Burleson) is a major player in the energy industry, one of the most experienced oil and gas lawyers in this market and we could not be more pleased that he's starting the next phase of his career at Paul Hastings."

Burleson has practiced energy law in Houston for the past 30 years. He founded Burleson LLP in 2005.

He cited the downturn in oil prices as the reason behind the shutdown.

Burleson will head PH’s oil and gas team in Houston.
