Walgreens

BEAUMONT - A Jefferson County woman is suing Walgreens, alleging negligence over injuries she says she sustained at one of its Port Arthur stores.

A.Z. Guillory filed a lawsuit Jan. 25 in Jefferson County District Court against Walgreens, alleging premises liability.

The complaint states on Feb. 12, 2014, Guillory, 68, was exiting the Walgreens at 4930 Gulfway Drive, Port Arthur, when her shoe became caught in a tattered rug or mat at the door and caused her to fall. The suit says

Guillory fell on cement and was bleeding from her nose and spitting up blood.

The lawsuit states store contained an unreasonably dangerous condition that the defendant should have inspected or provided warning. As a result, the complaint says, the plaintiff suffered injuries to her neck, right shoulder and arm, right leg and knee, head, teeth, and left side of her face and eyes, for which she has incurred medical expenses.

Guillory seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, interests and court costs. She is represented by attorney Malachi Daws of The Daws Law Firm in Beaumont.
