Motorist blames Stanley Black & Decker for vehicle crash

BEAUMONT — A Port Arthur motorist is suing Stanley Black & Decker and one its employees, alleging their negligence caused a vehicle crash.

Carina Vazquez filed a lawsuit May 5 in Jefferson County District Court against Stanley Black and Decker Inc., doing business as Global Tools & Storage, and Mark R. DeBlanc, alleging the employee failed to properly control his truck causing it to strike the plaintiff's car.

According to the complaint, on April 22, Vazquez sustained personal injuries and damages to her property when DeBlanc, driving a truck while working for Global Tools, failed to properly control his speed and lost control of his vehicle, running into the plaintiff's Chevrolet Cruze on the 3800 block of College Street in Beaumont .

The suit says the plaintiff sustained physical impairment, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life and loss of earning capacity.

Vazquez seeks a trial by jury, all damages, medical expenses, interest, monetary compensation, legal fees and any other relief the court deems just. She is represented by attorney Clay Dugas of Clay Dugas & Associates in Beaumont.
