BEAUMONT — A Beaumont man is suing the owners of a garbage truck that he alleges ran into his vehicle and caused injuries.

Mark Q. Roach Sr. filed a lawsuit May 10 in Jefferson County District Court against John Doe and Republic Services Inc., doing business as Republic Waste Services Group of Texas Inc., alleging negligence in failing to properly control a vehicle.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 4, Roach suffered injuries and damages to his car when a garbage truck owned by Republic Waste backed into his vehicle in the parking lot of Starcrest Apartments in Beaumont. The plaintiff alleges the defendants negligence caused the accident.

The suit alleges Republic assigned the truck to an incompetent driver who was negligently trained and supervised. The complaint states the plaintiff suffered physical pain, mental anguish, disfigurement, impairment and future loss of earning capacity.

Roach seeks a trial by jury, judgment against the defendant, interest, all legal fees and any other relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorneys Tom Landry and Paul F. Ferguson, Jr. of The Ferguson Law Firm LLP in Beaumont.
