Employee accuses nursing home of discrimination

TYLER — A Rusk County woman is suing a Kilgore nursing home, alleging disability discrimination.

Nancy Rhodes filed a lawsuit May 31, in the Tyler Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Arbor Grace Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation LLC, alleging disability discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination in that the employer discriminated because of the plaintiff's disability.

According to the complaint, starting in March 2013, Rhodes was exposed to discrimination during her employment and was wrongfully terminated Oct. 30, 2013. The plaintiff alleges the defendant made disparaging statements about Rhodes' leg aliment and terminated her employment, alleging she could not do her job properly.

Rhodes seeks back pay and front pay, lost wages and other employment benefits, all damages, injunctive relief, interest, all legal fees and any other relief the court deems just. She is represented by attorneys Robert J. Wiley and Kalandra N. Wheeler of Rob Wiley PC in Dallas.
