HOUSTON – A Fort Bend County man alleges he was wrongfully terminated by his former employers because of his race.
Shannon Bowman filed a complaint on June 10 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against
Weatherford International LLC and Precision Energy Services Inc.
alleging discrimination and violation of the Texas Commission on Human Rights Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff, who is African-American, alleges that between May 2007 and March 2016, he was targeted by his co-workers for discrimination, he was called names and was generally treated differently than his co-workers. Upon his termination, which he claims he was told was done due to economic reasons, he learned that two Caucasian males were given his previous post. The plaintiff holds Weatherford International LLC and Precision Energy Services Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly did nothing to prevent plaintiff from being discriminated by his co-workers and allegedly failed to provide plaintiff equal opportunities compared to his Caucasian colleagues.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks equitable relief, including back pay and front pay; lost benefits; compensatory damages; punitive damages; liquidated damages; interest; all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Michael A. Starzyk, April L. Walter and Amber L. Karns of Starzyk & Associates PC in The Woodlands.
