HOUSTON — A Houston man originally from Ethiopia, is suing Mitsubishi Caterpillar, alleging he was discriminated against during his employment.
Ephrem Eyob filed a lawsuit June 13 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift America Inc. alleging a hostile work environment, racial discrimination and wrongful termination.
According to the complaint, Eyob, a loyal employee for 14 years, experienced hostility from a white manager during his employment and was wrongfully terminated in April 2014 after being accused of being responsible for a problem on a truck that was not built on his assembly line.
The plaintiff alleges Mitsubishi Caterpillar failed to take action against Eyob's manager for being extremely hostile against him during his employment and, instead, overlooked the matter.
Eyob seeks a trial by jury, back pay including all employee benefits, compensatory damages, exemplary damages, all legal fees and any other relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorney Chris Bell of Houston.
