Galveston County woman alleges apartment operators' negligence caused injuries

Slip01

GALVESTON — A Galveston County woman is suing a Galveston apartment owner, alleging negligence caused her to suffer injuries.

Robyn Anderson filed a lawsuit July 6 in Galveston County District Court against Jannette Jackson Hunnicutt Ind., as owner of Antigua Apartments,  alleging negligence in that insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 21, 2014, while Anderson was walking on an exterior stairway of Antigua Apartments in Galveston, the unsecured railing and inadequate treads caused her to fall, and sustain severe injuries. The suit says these injuries resulted in physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, disfigurement and physical impairment and hospital and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants created and maintained a dangerous condition, failed to correct the dangerous condition, failed to inspect their premises, and failed to warn Anderson of the dangerous condition.

Anderson seeks a trial by jury, an order for defendant to appear, judgment between $200,000 and $1 million, pre- and post-judgment interest, legal costs and other relief to which she is justly entitled. She is represented by attorneys Darrell A. Apffel, S. Benjamin Shabot, Lauren F. Arisco and D. Blake Apffel of Bettison, Doyle, Apffel & Guarino PC in League City.
