GALVESTON – A Texas City African-American man formerly employed as a lab technician alleges he was discriminated against at his job.

Adrian Sherwood filed a complaint in Galveston County District Court against Total Petrochemical & Refining USA Inc. alleging that the base chemical producer violated the Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was subjected to discriminatory treatment, retaliation and termination. He alleges the defendant's actions caused him to suffer harm, loss of wages and employment opportunities, humiliation, embarrassment and emotional distress. The plaintiff holds Total Petrochemical & Refining USA Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly willfully disregarded his rights, retaliated against him for engaging in protected activities and wrongfully terminated his employment on or about May 9, 2014.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages, plus lost wages, attorney’s fees, court costs, prejudgment and post-judgment interest and such other relief to which he may show himself justly entitled. He is represented by Gregg M. Rosenberg of Rosenberg & Sprovach in Houston.
