Car passenger accuses Beaumont motorist of causing injuries

BEAUMONT — A Louisiana man is suing a Beaumont motorist, alleging his negligence caused a vehicle crash that injured the plaintiff.

Edward Ryan of Calcasieu Parish filed a lawsuit July 20 in Jefferson County District Court against Stephen Muller, alleging negligence in failing to maintain proper control of the vehicle.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 1, 2014, Ryan was a passenger in a car with Christopher Ryan when Muller, who was traveling southbound on Interstate Highway 10, pushed the Ryans' car into the retainer wall. The suit says Edward Ryan sustained damages and injuries that resulted in physical pain, emotional distress, loss wages and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Muller failed to keep proper lookout, failed to control the speed of his vehicle, and willfully disregarded the safety of other persons.

Edward Ryan seeks a trial by jury, monetary damages between $100,000 and $200,000, legal costs, pre-judgment interest, and all relief to which he is entitled. He is represented by attorney Joseph K. Plumbar of Law Office of Joseph K. Plumbar in Houston.
