HOUSTON — A Houston man is suing Nordstrom, alleging violation of workers compensation acts in failing to pay overtime.

Jesse Murphy filed a class action lawsuit, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated July 28 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Nordstrom Inc., alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, since June, Murphy regularly has worked overtime hours of more than 40 hours during seven day work-weeks as a salesperson without receiving overtime compensation as required by FLSA. The plaintiff alleges Nordstrom failed to compensate him for all hours worked and for overtime pay for those hours worked of more than 40 per week at a rate of time and one-half of his hourly rate and failed to keep accurate time records.

Murphy seeks a trial by jury, equitable relief, compensatory and liquidated damages, attorney fees, taxable costs of court, post-judgment interest and all other relief to which he is entitled. He is represented by attorney Brennen Dunn of Dunn Legal Group PLLC in Houston.
