BEAUMONT — A Hardin County man is suing an insurance company and a Groves man, alleging their negligence led to the plaintiff being assaulted at a meeting.

Nathan A. McIntosh filed a lawsuit Aug. 9 in Jefferson County District Court against David Jusselin Rabalais of Groves, Jr., Craig Allen Rankin and Peggy A. Nash, individually and doing business as Nash Rankin Insurance Agency, alleging they unlawfully sold liquor to intoxicated person.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 15, McIntosh was attending a fishing club meeting on the premises of Nash-Rankin Insurance Agency. During the meeting, the suit says, Rabalais physically assaulted McIntosh, causing the plaintiff serious and permanent injuries.

The plaintiff alleges Nash-Rankin permitted alcohol to be served at the meeting and failed to take appropriate action to intervene in the threatening behavior of Rabalais, who failed to control his aggressive behavior.

McIntosh seeks trial by jury, monetary relief of more than $1 million with pre- and post-judgment interest and all relief to which he is justly entitled. He is represented by attorney Joe Michael Dodson of Strong Pipkin Bissell & Ledyard LLP in Beaumont.
