Slip01

BEAUMONT — A Port Arthur woman is suing a Beaumont restaurant, alleging its negligence led to her sustaining injuries in a fall.

Jolene Roccaforte filed a lawsuit Aug. 8 in Jefferson County District Court against SVS Balaji Inc., doing business as Taz Indian Cuisine alleging, negligence in breaching its duty to protect the general public.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 27, 2014, Roccaforte was at Taz Indian Cuisine, 5868 Eastex Freeway, Beaumont, when she fell due to a wet floor. The suit says the fall caused her to sustain serious injuries that led to disfigurement, physical pain and impairment, plus medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant's employee, who was mopping the floor, failed to place signs around the wet area to warn customers of the dangerous conditions and failed to exercise ordinary care.

Roccaforte seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $100,000 and $200,000, legal interest, pre-judgment interest, costs of suit and all other relief. She is represented by attorneys Jonathan C. Juhan and J. J. Bragg of Beaumont.
