AUSTIN – Plaintiff's attorney Amber Mostyn, the wife of Steve Mostyn, recently participated on a campaign finance panel, telling the moderator that she thinks politicians spend an “inordinate” time fundraising – an opinion arguably supported by the fact her and her husband donate millions to Democrats.

The “Brought to You By Donors” panel was held Sept. 24 at the Texas Tribune Festival.

According to a Center for Public Integrity article, Amber believes politicians “spend an absolutely inordinate amount of time on fundraising.”

Amber and Steve Mostyn have firsthand knowledge on the fundraising front, as the two Texas attorneys were founding members of Ready PAC, previously dubbed “Ready for Hillary Super PAC” when initially formed back in 2013.

The PAC raised nearly $13 million and spent more than 12.1 million in 2014 in support of Hillary Clinton's looming campaign, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

Supporting Democratic presidential candidates is nothing new for the Mostyns, as the power couple contributed $3 million to a super PAC during President Obama’s re-election bid, and even hosted a dinner party for the commander and chief at their Houston home in April 2014.

In 2012, the Mostyns were ranked tenth in the nation for individuals funding outside spending groups, shelling out more than $4.2 million to super PACs.

For 2016, Amber and Steve Mostyn are lower down the list, ranked 86th with $1.1 million spent so far.

Campaign finance records show that on Jan. 8 Steve Mostyn made a $1 million donation to Priorities USA Action, a super PAC now in support of Hillary Clinton.

Priorities USA Action has exhausted more than $62 million in efforts against Republicans in 2016 so far, according to CRP.

Steve and Amber Mostyn made their fortune suing insurers in the wake of Hurricanes Ike and Rita.

Mostyn Law continues to sign up clients in mass after every major storm in the Lone Star State.

For the past year, the law firm has made headlines for their work on drumming up vaginal mesh lawsuits.

The festival was held at the University of Texas at Austin. The moderator was Dave Levinthal, senior political reporter at CPI. The other panelists at the even included: Toby Neugebauer, founder of Quantum Energy Partners; Aimee Boone Cunningham, an Austin-based philanthropist; and Doug Deason, president of Deason Capital Services, according to the article.
