Salon owner blames landlord, restaurant operator for water damage

Law money 09

HOUSTON — A Houston salon owner is suing a landlord and restaurant operator, alleging their negligence led to water damage in her business.

Lanh Thi Truong, doing business, as The Trend Salon, filed a lawsuit Sept. 27 in Harris County District Court against Kim Son Restaurant, Golden Mountain LP, Kimson Realty LP and Saigon Houston Plaza LP, alleging they breached their duty to exercise due care to maintain the premises in a safe condition.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 9, a boiler on the second floor of the shopping plaza at 10603 Bellaire Blvd., Houston, broke, causing extensive water damage to the plaintiff's property that resulted in the closing of its business.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to adequately maintain, repair and operate the hot water system in the restaurant.

Truong seeks a trial by jury, judgment between $200,000 and $1 million, with pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of suit and all other relief. She is represented by attorneys Mak A. Carrigan and Jon R. Alworth of Carrigan, McCloskey & Boberson LLP in Houston and by Thomas W. Hamrick of Law Offices of Thomas W. Hamrick in Dallas.
