Tugboat owner blames towing services providers for property damage

Tugboat 01

HOUSTON — A Houston tugboat owner is suing towing and escort services providers, alleging the defendants' negligence caused damage to the plaintiff's vessel.

Cedar Bayou Towing Limited Liability Company filed a lawsuit Sept. 29 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against GSD Marine LLC, G & H Towing Company, Bay Houston Towing Company, et al, alleging violation of the Code of Federal Regulations.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 19, 2015, Cedar Bayou Towing suffered monetary damages when its unattended vessel, Tug Annie Moon, was pulled underwater when the defendants' GSD's Barge MOP 14 slid into the Houston Ship Channel.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants neglected a precaution required by the ordinary practice of seaman, failed and/or refused to have due regard to all dangers of navigation and failed to navigate with particular alertness and caution.

Cedar Bayou Towing seeks trial by jury, all damages, pre- and post judgment interest, court costs, and all other relief as allowed by law. It is represented by attorney Robert C. Oliver of Sharpe & Oliver LLP in Houston.
