Administrator accuses petrochemical company of discrimination

HOUSTON — A Conroe woman is suing Chevron Phillips, alleging discrimination.

Alma Burkhart filed a lawsuit Oct. 3 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP alleging violation of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, Burkhart, who is 60, was unlawfully discharged by Chevron Phillips, causing lost wages and benefits, embarrassment, mental anguish and emotional distress. 

The plaintiff alleges Chevron Phillips subjected her to adverse employment conditions, hostile work environment, harassment, retaliation and termination for opposing the defendant's discriminatory practices.

Burkhart seeks trial by jury, actual damages, reinstatement, pre- and post judgment interest, court costs and expenses and all other relief the court finds appropriate. She is represented by attorneys John A. Sullivan, III and Robert J. Filteau of The Law Offices of Filteau & Sullivan LTD LLP in Houston.
