Beaumont man blames truck owner, driver for crash

Car accident 37

BEAUMONT — A Beaumont motorist is suing a truck owner and its driver, alleging their negligence led to a crash that injured the plaintiff.

Shane Cart filed a lawsuit Nov. 4 in Jefferson County District Court against Tramat LLC and Yemane Gebrezghi, alleging Tramat failed to properly train and supervise its driver, Gebrezghi.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 7, 2016, Cart and Gebrezghi were both traveling in the 400 block of Interstate Highway 10 South in Beaumont. The suit says suddenly Gebrezghi moved into Cart's lane of travel and pushed the plaintiff's vehicle into a retaining wall.

The collision, the lawsuit states, caused Cart to suffer serious injuries, medical bills, mental anguish, lost wages and benefits, and physical impairment.

The plaintiff alleges Gebrezghi failed to maintain full and proper control of the vehicle, failed to exercise due care and diligence and failed to stay in a single lane of traffic.

Cart seeks trial by jury, judgment, jointly and severally, for actual damages, punitive damages, pre-judgment interest, court costs and all other relief available. He is represented by attorney Clay Dugas of Clay Dugas & Associates in Beaumont.
