Hispanic woman accuses U.S. postmaster general of harassment

HOUSTON — A Houston Hispanic woman is suing the U.S. postmaster general, alleging harassment, hostile work environment and retaliation.

Victoria Davila filed a lawsuit Oct. 18 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against U.S. Postmaster General Megan Brennan, alleging violation of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, Davila, a senior sales executive, suffered damages, including denial of promotion, lost pay and benefits and monetary damages of $300,000 for severe mental and emotional distress while working for the U.S. Postal Service.

The plaintiff alleges Brennan subjected Davila to hostile work environment, discrimination, harassment and disparate treatment on the basis of her race, age and perceived disability. The suit says the defendant also took adverse employment actions against Davila for participating in protected activities.

Davila seeks trial by jury, monetary damages of $300,000 promotion with back pay, compensatory damages, costs of court, attorney fees, pre- and post-judgment interest and all other relief to which she is entitled. Davilia is representing herself.
