Customer blames Saks Fifth Avenue for injuries

Slip01

HOUSTON — A customer is suing Saks Fifth Avenue, alleging the defendant's negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Alicia West filed a lawsuit Dec. 9 in Harris County District Court against Saks Fifth Avenue Texas Real Property LLC and Simon Property Group LP, alleging they breached their duty to provide a safe environment.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 21, 2014, West was shopping at the Saks Fifth Avenue store at Cypress Outlet Mall in Cypress when she slipped and tripped over some shoes on the floor. The suit says West fell forward and sustained injuries to her head that involved much bleeding.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to maintain their store in a safe condition and their employees failed to re-shelve shoe items.

West seeks trial by jury, maximum damages of $100,000, plus interest, costs of suit and all other equitable relief. She is represented by attorney Shelly M. Davis-Smith of The Davis Law Firm in Houston.
