Homosexual male accuses medical provider of discrimination

SHERMAN — A homosexual male is suing a Carrollton medical provider, alleging sex discrimination and wrongful termination.

Robert Harrison of Denton, Texas, filed a lawsuit Jan. 3 in the Sherman Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Family Medicine Associates of Texas PA and Mary Neal, alleging violation of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the Texas Labor Code.

According to the complaint, Harrison, who had worked for the defendants from Feb. 5, 2014 until Jan. 29,, 2016, was terminated from his employment as a radiology nurse because of his gender and for complaining about discrimination and harassment. 

The plaintiff alleges the defendants permeated the workplace with discriminatory intimidation, ridicule, and insult, altered Harrison's employment conditions, created an abusive working environment and retaliated against him by terminating his employment.

Harrison seeks trial by jury, reinstatement with back pay and front pay, compensatory and punitive damage, litigation costs and all additional equitable and proper relief. He is represented by attorneys Matthew R. Scott and Javier Perez of Scott | Perez LLP in Dallas.
