HOUSTON — A Harris County man is suing a contractor, alleging the defendant's negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Demario Taylor filed a complaint Jan. 24 in Harris County District Court against Elite Turnaround Specialist Ltd., alleging failure to implement and enforce proper safety procedures.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 20, 2016, Taylor was employed by a subcontractor to perform welding inspections at Valero Park in Port Arthur. Prior to inspection, the suit says, Elite Turnaround performed welding work on a pipe stand that was improperly set up on an uneven surface.

Due to this, the suit states, the pipe stand gave way and fell on Taylor. As a result, he sustained severe injuries to his legs, feet and other parts of his body, the lawsuit says.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to properly set up and maintain safe equipment and failed to make proper repairs.

Taylor seeks trial by jury, monetary relief of more than $1 million and all other equitable relief. He is represented by attorney Sean O'Rourke of Simon-O'Rourke PC in Houston.
