BEAUMONT — An Orange County woman is suing Louisiana bar operators, alleging assault, battery and negligence in preventing injuries.

Felica Manuel, individually and as next friend of Damian Manuel, filed a complaint Feb. 6 in Jefferson County District Court against Randy E. Chappel, Vinton Hookah LLC, doing business as Angels, and Aaron Michael Warren, alleging Angels and Chappel negligently hired, trained and supervised Warren.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 1, 2016, Damian Manuel was out for an evening at Angels in Vinton, Louisiana. After some disagreement with employees, the suit says, Manuel was told to leave and he complied, the suit says.

When he realized that he left his hat, the lawsuit states, Manuel returned to retrieve it. Upon entering the premises, the suit says, Manuel was assaulted by the bouncer, Warren. As a result, the lawsuit says, he sustained severe injuries and brain damage, and Felica Manuel suffered loss of consortium, companionship and society.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide a safe environment.

Felica Manuel seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, plus all other legal and equitable relief. She is represented by attorneys Paul F. Ferguson Jr., Larry C. Hunter and Cody A. Dishon of The Ferguson Law Firm LLP in Beaumont.
