HOUSTON — A Montgomery County woman is suing a community center, alleging negligence caused injuries to the plaintiff.
Dolores Dixon filed a complaint Feb. 13 in Harris County Circuit Court against Ripley House also known as Baker-Ripley Community Center, alleging it improperly installed a dance floor leaving an unlevel surface that created a trip hazard.
According to the complaint, on Feb. 14, 2015, Dixon entered the defendant's building in Houston where a dance floor is installed. While Dixon was on the dance floor, the suit says, she tripped, fell and broke her wrist. As a result, the lawsuit states, she suffered physical injuries, inconvenience and medical expenses. The plaintiff alleges Baker-Ripley failed to install and maintain the dance floor in a reasonably safe condition, failed to put out warning cones or other devices to alert patrons of the dangerous condition and failed to provide Dixon a safe place to attend without sustaining injuries.
Dixon seeks trial by jury, judgment up to $100,000, including damages, court costs, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney fees and all other equitable relief. She is represented by attorney Roger L. Merrill of Merrill and Associates in Houston.
