HOUSTON — Seven former employees are suing a Houston landscape company, alleging discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination.

Kareem Burton, Shannon Wallace, George White, Troy Jordan, Joseph Landheart, Charles Woods and John Dixon filed a complaint Feb. 14 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against JHE Landscapes Inc., doing business as Texas Landscape Company, alleging violation of 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

According to the complaint, as a result of Texas Landscape's conduct, the plaintiffs have suffered lost wages, health insurance and pension or retirement benefits and loss of enjoyment of life. The plaintiffs allege a Texas Landscape intentionally engaged in race-based discriminatory actions and terminated their employment for complaining about and opposing discriminatory and harassing treatment.

The plaintiffs seek trial by jury, all economic and compensatory relief, pre- and post-judgment interest, punitive and liquidated damages, attorney fees and all costs of court. They are represented by attorneys Mark G. Lazarz and Brian J. Levy of Shellist Lazarz Slobin LLP in Houston.
