MARSHALL — A Rusk County woman is suing Eastman Chemical, alleging discrimination and wrongful termination.

Cammie Keenon of Kilgore, Texas, filed a complaint Feb. 16 in the Marshall Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Eastman Chemical Company, alleging violation of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, from the beginning of her employment with Eastman Chemical July 14, 2014, Keenon was treated differently than other similarly situated male counterparts. On May 23, 2016, the suit says, she was terminated from her employment.

As a result, the lawsuit states, Keenon has suffered lost wages and insurance benefits, plus emotional pain and suffering, inconvenience, mental anguish and loss of enjoyment of life. The plaintiff alleges Eastman Chemical refused to offer her reasonable accommodation, discriminated against her with respect to compensation, terms and conditions of employment and retaliated by terminating her employment for making complaints of discrimination.

Keenon seeks trial by jury, actual, compensatory, liquidated and punitive damages, plus interest, attorney fees and court costs and all other just relief. She is represented by attorney William S. Hommel Jr. of Hommel Law firm in Tyler.
