Derrick worker blames sues oil rig operator for injuries

Oilrig 03

HOUSTON — A Bosque County man is suing an oil rig operator, alleging its negligence caused him injuries.

Nicholas Elliott filed a complaint March 7 in Harris County District Court against Rowan Companies Inc. alleging failure to provide a safe place to work and a failure to provide a seaworthy vessel.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 22, 2015, Elliott was injured while working aboard a rig operated by Rowan. The suit says he had worked for defendant for seven years and the continued strain on his body eventually resulted in a severe injury to his back. The lawsuit states Elliott lost wage-earning capacity and experienced medical treatment.

The plaintiff alleges Rowan failed to properly train and supervise Elliott and negligently permitted him to work in a hazardous exposure to ergonomic risk factors.

Elliott seeks trial by jury, damages in accordance with the evidence, costs of court, attorney fees and interest and all other relief. He is represented by attorney Brian Bekcom of VB Attorneys in Houston.
