Technician alleges garage door business failed to pay overtime

HOUSTON — A Harris County man has filed a class action lawsuit against his former employers, alleging violation of workers compensation acts in failing to pay overtime.

Bryan Redmon, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, filed a complaint April 10 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Global Distribution Services Inc., doing business as America’s Alliance, doing business as America’s Choice Garage Door Service and Independent Contractors Group LLC, alleging they violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, Redmon regularly worked more than 40 hours a week as a garage door technician without being paid the overtime premium of time and one-half his regular rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 a week as required b FLSA. 

Redmon seeks trial by jury, unpaid overtime wages, liquidated damages, interest, attorney fees and court costs and all other equitable relief. He is represented by attorneys Todd Slobin and Ricardo J. Prieto of Shellist Lazarz Slobin LLP in Houston.
