Eagle Energy sued for $1M after pipe falls on worker’s head

HOUSTON – A man alleging a pipe fell on his head because of unsafe working conditions is seeking more than $1 million in damages for his injuries.

Miguel Rios-Soto filed suit against Eagle Energy Holdings on May 5 in Harris County District Court.

According to the petition, on Dec. 17, 2016, Rios-Soto, was working for Bull Dog Oil Well Service at an oil well site owned and controlled by Eagle in Luling. While Rios-Soto was on the site, he was severely injured when pipe casing fell directly on his head.

As a result, Rios-Soto has suffered severe and permanent injuries.

At the time of the incident, drilling operations and maintenance were being performed at the oil well site under the direction, control and supervision of Eagle.

Eagle is accused of gross negligence, entitling Rios-Soto to exemplary damages.

He is represented in part by Houston attorney Chevo Pastrano.  Bob Hilliard out of Corpus Christi is also on the case.
