BEAUMONT – A Beaumont woman alleges a Baton Rouge debt collector is using deceptive practices with its calls.

Jennifer Vallair filed a complaint on May 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas against E.A. Uffman & Associates Inc., doing business as CSD Collection Specialist, alleging that the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendant has left her numerous voicemails that failed to state that the call was from a debt collector and that it was an attempt to collect a debt.

The plaintiff holds E.A. Uffman & Associates Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly made calls in an attempt to deceive the plaintiff by failing to disclose if the call was from a debt collector and/or if it was attempting to collect a debt.

The plaintiff seeks actual and statutory damages, attorney fees and costs and such other just and proper relief. She is represented by Yaakov Saks of RC Law Group PLLC in Hackensack, New Jersey.
