Rene Sigman leaves Mostyn Law, joins Merlin Law Group

Sm

HOUSTON – Once Mostyn Law’s head of litigation, Rene Sigman has left the firm and joined the Merlin Law Group, a firm specializing in insurance litigation.

Firm founder Chip Merlin made the announcement July 24, saying Sigman first came to his attention during a Hurricane Ike hearing in Galveston back in 2008.

“I then watched as she headed-up Mostyn Law Firm’s litigation department, winning thousands of cases resulting from Hurricane Ike and then in New York following Superstorm Sandy,” Merlin said in the announcement.

“We are fortunate that (Sigman) wanted to join our team. She will be a great asset to our current clients, prospective clients, and public adjuster colleagues.”

Sigman started as a clerk at Mostyn Law and remained as an attorney for 16 years before joining Merlin Law Group.

Merlin says she was instrumental in obtaining the testimony showing the fraudulent engineering reports were designed to underpay flood claims following Superstorm Sandy.

“While she received little credit for it, because of her efforts, thousands of flood victims’ claims were again reviewed and paid by the National Flood Program,” Merlin said. “I expect her dogged tenacity will tremendously benefit Merlin Law Group clients in the future.”

Sigman has been named to Super Lawyers and “Texas Rising Star” for seven years straight.

She now joins Merlin Law Group as regional litigation manager and will be running Merlin’s Texas operation.
