BEAUMONT – A Cedar Hill woman has brought a lawsuit against American Airlines, alleging the airline failed to assist her while disembarking and prevent her slip and fall two years ago.

Betty Michalski filed her suit July 14 in Jefferson County District Court. Envoy Air is also named as a defendant.

According to the lawsuit, on July 18, 2015, Michalski scheduled a flight from Dallas to Beaumont. The flight was uneventful, but upon landing Michalski suffered injuries while disembarking.

“Plaintiff would show when she exited the plane she was offered no assistance and was not advised of any conditions on the stair ramp,” the suit states. “While descending to the tarmac, plaintiff was caused to slip and fall by virtue of a wet condition on the stairs.”

Michalski injured her back and was taken to an area hospital.

She is accusing the defendants of negligently failing to assist her and for properly failing to prepare the steps.

Michalski is suing for he past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, impairment, pain and disfigurement.

She is represented by the Law Office of Ralph C. Jones in Dallas.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.

Cause No. E-200381
