Consumer claims Hunter Warfield misrepresented amount of alleged debt

FORT WORTH — A consumer has filed a class-action lawsuit against Hunter Warfield, a collection agency, citing alleged abusive, deceptive and unfair debt collection practices.

Raquel Bretado, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated filed a complaint on Aug. 30, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas Fort Worth Division against Hunter Warfield alleging that the collection agency the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was damaged for believing that defendant has a financial incentive to pay her debt sooner, or risk owing a higher amount. The plaintiff holds Hunter Warfield responsible because the defendant allegedly falsely represented the amount of the alleged debt and made false representation or using deceptive means to collect a debt.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory and actual damages, costs, attorney's fees and expenses and such other and further relief. She is represented by Seth P. Crosland of Crosland Law Firm in Hurst and Ari Marcus of Marcus & Zelman LLC in Ocean, New Jersey.
