GALVESTON – A Galveston County individual has filed suit against a Texas City establishment and a bouncer over allegations she was injured by the bouncer.

Kefflin Phillips filed a complaint on Nov. 20 in the Galveston County District Court against John Phelps, individually and doing business as Shakky's Ice House and Datra Lemonte Sanders alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 12, she was at Shakky's Ice House and Sanders was working security that night. The suit states the plaintiff's maternal aunt was also at Shakky's, confronted the plaintiff and put her in a head lock. The plaintiff alleges that she and others were asked to leave, but she was permitted to go back inside to retrieve her lost shoe. The plaintiff alleges Sanders physically picked her up and removed her from the club into the parking lot, causing her to break her leg.

The plaintiff holds Phelps, individually and doing business as Shakky's Ice House, and Sanders responsible because the defendants alleging failed to provide necessary and proper procedures or failed to execute these procedures.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief more than $1 million and such other lawful and equitable relief. She is represented by Gene A. Watkins of Sherman Watkins PLLC in Houston.
