Former clerk for Alvin gas station alleges he is owed unpaid overtime wages

Law money 06

HOUSTON – A former employee for an Alvin gas station alleges that he was paid the same rate regardless of who many hours he worked.

Juma Gulzar filed a complaint on April 6 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against PAKG Enterprises Inc., Ambreena Manji, Pervez Alwani and Karim Gulamali alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between February 2014 and March 11, 2018, he regularly worked more than 40 hours each week for defendants at their Speedy Express gas station without receiving the overtime premium for all hours worked in excess of 40 each week.

The plaintiff holds PAKG Enterprises Inc., Manji, Alwani and Gulamali responsible because the defendants allegedly paid him a bi-monthly salary with a check for $640 and the remainder in cash at the rate of $11 per hour for all hours he worked, including overtime hours.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks back wages, liquidated damages, attorney’s fees, costs and post-judgment interest. He is represented by Salar Ali Ahmed of Ali S. Ahmed PC in Houston.
