HOUSTON – An estate representative of a late Harris County woman alleges that a rehabilitation center failed to properly monitor and provide care to her.

Maverick Lewis, individually and as representative of the estate of Dorothy Lewis, filed a complaint on Feb. 1 in the Harris County Circuit Court against Everest Real Estate Investments LLP, doing business as Icon Hospital, alleging medical negligence and gross negligence.

According to the complaint, between 2016 and 2017, Dorothy Lewis was a resident at defendant's rehabilitation center for assistance with her daily activities and rehabilitation. The suit states at the time of her admission, she had a small pressure ulcer.

The suit states as a result of defendant's negligence, Dorothy Lewis suffered substantial injury and damages that ultimately led to her death on Feb. 10, 2018.

The plaintiff holds Everest Real Estate Investments LLP responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide appropriate training and supervision to its staff and failed to properly monitor and care for decedent.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in excess of the minimal jurisdictional amount of the court, with interest, costs and such other and further relief deemed appropriate. He is represented by Curtis Clinesmith, Alexis Nicole Ondris and Dawn M. Smith of The Clinesmith Firm in Harris.
