U.S. Department of Labor issued the following announcement on Sept. 27.
The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the award of $3,590,635 in additional funding to the Texas Workforce Commission for a National Dislocated Worker Grant currently serving dislocated workers at Fort Hood and Red River Army Depot (RRAD), located in Killeen and Texarkana, Texas, respectively.
In October 2018, the Department initially approved for this grant funding of up to $5,385,952, with $1,795,317 released initially. This latest funding will allow for the continuation of employment and training services to eligible military service members transitioning to civilian employment, as well as to civilian workers affected by layoffs.
Supported by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014, Dislocated Worker Grants temporarily expand the service capacity of dislocated worker programs at the state and local levels by providing funding assistance in response to large, unexpected economic events that cause significant job losses.
